A Sensorized Soft Pneumatic Actuator Fabricated with Extrusion-Based Additive Manufacturing

Soft pneumatic actuators with a channel network (pneu-net) based on thermoplastic elastomers are compatible fused deposition modeling (FDM). However, conventional filament-based (FDM) printers not well suited for shore hardness (Sh < 70A). Therefore, in this study, pellet-based FDM printer was used to print of Sh18A. Additionally, the method allowed situ integration soft piezoresistive sensing elements during fabrication. The integrated were conductive composites made three different styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene (SEBS) elastomers, each carbon black (CB) filler ratio 1:1. best sensor behavior achieved by SEBS material Sh50A. dynamic and quasi-static investigated strips composite material, results compared TPU from previous study. Finally, printing 18 A. It is worth mentioning that 3 h needed fabrication actuator an strain element. In comparison classical mold casting method, faster, since curing post-processing required will help industrialization actuator-based robotics.
